As the first experience and impression of the Belgian coast Ostend was (perhaps somewhat surprisingly), more than pleasant. The glaring sun, calming breeze, glittering sea, and of course most important of all, the company. I didn't mind that there were all these buildings along the beach itself at all; they just give it a different feel to one of those more secluded beaches. Having said that, it would be great to see a smaller beach town next time.
