Cuenca charmed us all; it has things that you can't find in Manta, like salads, cafes, bookshops, and a reasonably clean river. We got swamped with flowers from the locals, had drops of fireworks falling over our heads at the Fiesta de Cuenca, saw many Guinea Pigs being roasted (Cuy is a famous dish from the region), and had the current President of Ecuador, Rafael Correa, saying "buenas noches" to just the 3 of us.
