Through Tena, we went into the Amazon for a few days. Truly amazing: Bathing at Rio Lukulih with what they called "agua caliente" (which was freezing cold) underneath sky full of stars, being alone and lost in the forrest, climbing up waterfalls, somehow making it back to the cabina in complete darkness, taking Ayahuashca with Shaman performing cleansing ritual, animal-spotting, bright royal blue butterflies dancing along the river against the jade green backdrop... and also got to hear many, many stories from the locals- I have never appreciated the Spanish language more - because otherwise with them speaking Quechua (or Kichwa) and us speaking English, we would have missed out on the chance to learn more about their history and how they are coping with all the changes driven by external influences.
